The National Service Scheme, Red Ribbon Club, and Youth Red Cross of Canara College in collaboration with Lions Club, Kadri Hills, HDFC Bank, and Indian Red Cross Society organized Blood Donation Camp on October 29, 2024 in the college campus. The inauguration of the camp was held at 9:30 A.M. at Smt. Ratnabai Shenoy Memorial Hall.
The inaugurator of the program, CA Shantharam Shetty, in his speech emphasized that each one must volunteer to donate blood as it can save many precious lives. The Chief Guest of the program, Lion Prakasan, President, Lions Club, Kadri Hills, while speaking as the Chief Guest of the program cleared all the misconceptions regarding blood donation.
Lion Prashanth G. Pai MJF, Chief District Marketing Chairperson was yet another Chief Guest. He, highlighting the importance of blood donation, pointed out that human blood and water are the only two substances that scientists could not recreate. So, it is our bounden responsibility to donate blood. Further, he added that it is one of the best ways to serve humanity.
Dr. Deepthi Nayak, Administrator, Canara College, in her presidential address expressed, “Blood Donation is one of the noblest deeds and each one must partake in this significant act and be worthy of God’s grace.”
Mr. Laxminarayan Shanbhag, Junior Officer, HDFC, Mangalore Branch was the Guest of Honor of the program. The other esteemed guests gracing the occasion were President Sec. Ln Vidya Kamath, Treasurer Ln Sandhya Sujith, Ln Rathnakar, Ln Sumithra Shetty. Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, Mrs. Sushama C., the NSS Programme Officers, Mr. Shubham and Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, the Assistant NSS Programme Officers, and Mrs. Roopashri K P and Mrs. Rashmi, the YRC Programme Officers coordinated the blood donation camp. Canara College successfully collected, in total, 164 Units of blood which was donated to Lady Goschen Hospital, Mangaluru.
