Observance of Constitution Day

The Electoral Literacy Cell of Canara College organized a program to observe Constitution Day on November 26, 2024. Dr. Latha Pandit, a retired professor and HOD of the Department of Political Science, University College, Hampankatta, Mangalore, was the resource person for the event.

In her address, Dr. Pandit spoke about the importance of celebrating Constitution Day, marking the 75th year of the Indian Constitution. She emphasized that the Indian Constitution, a well-drafted and robust document enacted by the Constituent Assembly, continues to guide the nation. Despite its numerous diversities, it has played a vital role in fostering solidarity among citizens in a diverse and plural society.

Dr. Pandit highlighted how the Constitution reflects the aspirations of free Indians and serves as the foundation for justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. She encouraged the students to recognize their role as responsible citizens and uphold the values enshrined in the Constitution.

As part of Constitutional Day, the oath was administered by Dr. Ganrsh Shetty. U, Head of the Department of Political Science, to students and teaching and non-teaching faculties of the college.
