With the aim of bridging the gap between academic English and the language used in real-world business scenarios, the Department of English hosted a workshop on “Usage of Business English” on April 22, 2025 at 1:30 P.M. in the Seminar Hall.
The session began with an inaugural address by Mrs. Anusuya Bhagvath highlighting the importance of Business English in the global job market. Mrs. Geetanjali Prabhu, Assistant Professor, Department of English, St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore was the Resource Person. During her session, she focused on: the essentials of Business English vocabulary and tone, common structures and formats used in business communication, email etiquette and report writing practices. Further, she also discussed the workplace scenarios like meetings, presentations and telephonic conversations.
Mrs. Rithika S., Head, Department of English, and the other faculty members of the Department – Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, Ms. Maneesha and Mrs. Rakshitha Uchil – coordinated in the organization of the program. A total of 103 students benefitted from this workshop.
In conclusion, the workshop proved to be a valuable learning experience, equipping participants with tools to communicate more professionally and effectively in business environments.
