One-Day Entrepreneurial Development Workshop on The Idea Incubator

The Centre for PG Studies in Commerce and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (M,Com) organized a one-day Entrepreneurial Development Workshop – The Idea Incubator on May 16, 2025, at 9.30 AM for the students of M.Com and B.Com. The workshop featured Mrs. Swathi Nayak, Assistant Professor and Coordinator at the M.Com Department, Canara College, Mangaluru, as the resource person. She conducted an engaging, activity-based session focused on generating new ideas to develop entrepreneurial skills among students. Her discussion covered essential concepts, including the fundamental differences between entrepreneurs and business owners, inspiring success and failure stories, and the impact of innovative product ideas on revenue and employment generation. She also introduced students to business incubators with examples such as Farmfart and Bambrew, highlighting how incubation supports emerging ventures. The session emphasized idea generation through the Lean Canvas model, encouraging students to develop unique solutions to real-world challenges.

The event witnessed the participation of 42 students, who actively engaged in brainstorming innovative ideas to address local problems. The collaborative atmosphere fostered entrepreneurial thinking and creativity, allowing students to understand the practical aspects of ideation and business development. The workshop successfully equipped attendees with valuable insights into entrepreneurship, inspiring them to explore the world of business and innovation. The session concluded with students presenting their ideas, reflecting on their learning experiences, and discussing potential applications in the real world. The program was well-coordinated, ensuring a productive and enriching experience for all participants.
