On April 21, 2025, a ‘Book Release Ceremony and Kavigoshti (A Poetry Recital Event)’ were jointly organized by the Department of Kannada, Canara College and the Mangalore Unit of Akhila Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad in the college seminar hall.
A collection of essays ‘Kanavarike’, written by Mrs. Shailaja Pudukoli, Kannada Lecturer at Canara College, was released by Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, Canara College. Poet and Canara Pre-University College Lecturer Mr. Raghu Idkidu introduced the book. He said “Kanavarike, a compilation of short essays, presents subtle thoughts that help nurture human values and cultural refinement essential for life. At a time when interest in reading books is declining, students should develop a literary taste by reading such writings.
Malathi Shetty Manur, Editor of Amrutha Prakasha magazine, conveyed her best wishes. Student Meghana welcomed the gathering. Shri Narasimha Shetty, Vice President of Akhila Bharathiya Sahithya Parishad Mangaluru Unit, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was graced by Dr. Deepti Nayak, College Administrative Officer, Mrs. Vani U. S., Head of the Kannada Department, Mrs. Shailaja Pudukoli, Lecturer, Department of Kannada, and Dr. Meenakshi Ramachandra, President ABSP Mangaluru Unit. The event was compered by Abhishek V. Patil.
Students Srushti N., M. Panchami Bhat, Prajna K. Y., Amrutha, Parashurama U., Agama Perla and Sharada Kedlaya recited their own poems. 20 students and 10 Sahitya Parishad members were present on the occasion.
