Masters Premium League- Cricket Tournament for PG Students

The Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Computer Applications (M.C.A), in collaboration with the M.Com. students, organized an exciting and inclusive cricket tournament aimed at fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among postgraduate students. A unique feature of this tournament was the team formation through a bidding process, ensuring each of the eight teams included a mix of students from both MCA and M.Com. programs, promoting cross-departmental bonding.

The tournament was officially inaugurated by Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, and Ms. Jayabharathi K.P., Head of the Department of MCA, who symbolically played the first ball to mark the commencement of the event. Each match was played with a quick and energetic 3-over format, ensuring high engagement and fast-paced action.

The eight participating teams—Phoenix, Agni, Eagles, Warriors, Kings, Jatayu, Sarvashakthi, and Strikers—competed with great enthusiasm and team spirit. Team Jatayu emerged as the champions, while Team Sarvashakthi secured the runner-up position. Individual excellence was also recognized: Mr. Tharun, I MCA was awarded Man of the Series, Mr. Sharath, II M.Com., received Best Batsman, Mr. Gautham, I MCA was honored as Best Bowler.

The tournament was smoothly coordinated under the guidance of Mr. Avinash, Physical Director, with vibrant and engaging commentary provided by Mr. Karthik, Faculty Member of MCA.This was the first tournament exclusively organized for postgraduate students, and it successfully achieved its goal of building strong bonds, promoting teamwork, and encouraging active participation in sports. A total of 64 students participated as players from both MCA and MCom. The event provided a unique opportunity for postgraduate students to bond, compete in a spirit of friendly competition, and embrace the values of sportsmanship and discipline, and hence inculcating a value system among the students.
