The NSS Unit of Canara College (Autonomous), Mangaluru successfully organized “Srujana – 2026 – Seveyinda Kriyasheelathe” on March 26, 2026, under the theme “Tulunada Vaibhava”, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Tulunadu with great enthusiasm and active student participation. A total of 240 volunteers from 17 colleges participated in the competition.

The programme commenced with the hoisting of the NSS flag by Mr. Satish Naiga, Former President of Meramajalu Gram Panchayat, who highlighted that youth involvement in cultural and service-oriented activities is essential for preserving tradition and building responsible citizens. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Vijayalakshmi Nayak, Associate Professor, Srinivas University, Pandeshwara, who emphasized that NSS serves as a platform for nurturing leadership, creativity, and social responsibility among students. The function was presided over by Mr. Basty Purushotham Shenoy, Correspondent, Canara Vikas Group of Institutions, who remarked that such events strengthen cultural identity and encourage holistic student development. Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, conveyed her message encouraging students to actively participate, showcase their talents, and uphold the spirit of service.

The programme began with a warm welcome by Mrs. Vani U.S., Staff Welfare Secretary. Ms. Vishmitha, NSS Volunteer, introduced the esteemed guests. Mr. Brundavan N. Shetty, Student Convener, presented an overview of “Srujana – 2026,” and the vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Sushama C., NSS Programme Officer. The event was graced by the presence of CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent, Mr. K. Shivananda Shenoy, Manager, Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrator, Mrs. Vani U.S., and Mrs. Smitha M., NSS Programme Officers, and Assistant Programme Officers Mrs. Laxmi Hegde and Mr. Karthik.

The fest featured a variety of cultural, literary, and creative competitions, namely: Rasa Vaibhava (Variety), Vagvilasa (Debate), Kala Manjari (Poster Making), Rangitaranga (Face Painting), Naadabrunda (Group Singing), Navonmesha (Wealth out of Waste), Kalaa Angana (Street Play), Nenapina Doni (Documentary), and The All-Rounder. These events truly reflected the essence of “Tulunada Vaibhava.”

The Valedictory Function was held in the evening. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sheshappa K., NSS Coordinator, Mangalore University, lauded “Srujana” as a vibrant platform for young talents to express themselves and develop teamwork. The valedictory session was presided over by CA Vaman Kamath, Treasurer, Canara High School Association, who stated that such initiatives help in shaping confident and socially responsible individuals. In his address, CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent, appreciated the enthusiasm and performances of the participants, highlighting the importance of such events in shaping students’ futures.

The programme was attended by Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrative Officer, Mrs. Vani U.S., Staff Welfare Secretary, Mrs. Sushama C. and Mrs. Smitha M., NSS Programme Officers, Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Assistant NSS Programme Officer, along with NSS Student Coordinators Mr. Brundavan N. Shetty and Ms. Shrinidhi. The Overall Championship trophy was bagged by SDM College, Mangaluru while Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, secured the Runners-up trophy.
