The Department of Commerce organized a training session titled “InvestSmart: A Beginner’s Guide to Building Wealth” on November 27, 2025, at 11:30 AM in the Smt. Ratna S. Shenoy Memorial Seminar Hall. Mrs. Dejamma A., Principal In-Charge, presided over the function and addressed the gathering. She emphasized the need to develop investment habits among youth to build financial security and independence. The resource person for the programme was Mr. Riyaz M, Trainer from Zerodha, Mangalore.
The programme aimed to provide students with essential knowledge on investment basics, the importance of early investing, and various financial instruments suitable for long-term wealth creation. Mr. Riyaz introduced students to the stock market, mutual funds, and simple strategies for beginning their investment journey. A key highlight was the hands-on experience in opening a Demat account, where students were guided through KYC procedures, verification, and platform usage, giving them real-time exposure to trading account operations.
Overall, the programme greatly enriched the students’ understanding of sustainable agriculture, deepened their respect for farming communities, and offered meaningful experiential learning that effectively linked classroom knowledge with real-world application.
