CONSTITUTION DAY CELEBRATION

November 26, 2023

On November 26, 2023 at War Memorial Monument, Kadri, Mangaluru, NSS Units of Canara College in association with NSS Mangalore University celebrated Constitution Day (also known as “Samvidhan Divas”). Rastriyavadi Kraistara Vedike organized this programme to celebrate Indian Constitution Day and also to pay homage to the martyrs of the dastardly 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

Constitution Day was previously known as “Law Day”. In 2015, the government renamed it to “Constitution Day” to emphasize the importance of the document that governs all legal authorities in India. The day is celebrated every year across the nation to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India. Constitution of India was formally adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into effect on 26th January 1950.

Ashna Rai NCC Cadet, participant RD Delhi 2023 and Bhavish Shetty, participant RD Delhi 2023 lighted the lamp. Sister Dr. Venessa, Principal inaugurated the programme. Dr. Nagarathna KA, NSS Co-Ordinator, Mangalore University, read the Preamble to the Constitution to mark the occasion. Nrutya Bharathi Dance Academy paid homage through dance. Mr. Franklin Lobo, Founder, Rastriya Kraistara Vedike welcomed the esteemed gathering. 

Dignitaries ACP Geetha Kulkarni, Roy Castelino PRO, NCR, Vinod Pinto Cridoi, Prashanth Kumar Sanil, Businessman, Lawyer Nayna Pai, Corporator Shakila Kava and Nrutya Vidisha Geetha Saralaya, Rashmi Sadanand were the guests. NCC Army, Air Wing, Coast Guard Officials witnessed this programme. 

NSS Programme Officers Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., Ms. Shravya, Dr. Jyothi and NSS Volunteers of Canara College, Milagres College, SDM College, School of Roshni Nilaya and Padua College participated in this heart touching programme. It inculcated in the 29 NSS Volunteers from Canara College the spirit of nationalism, as envisaged by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, “Every Indian should forget that he is a Rajput, a Sikh, or a Jaat. He must remember that he is an Indian and he has every right in his country but with certain duties.”
