At present there is a consistent demand to produce good quality research papers. Employers, now-a-days, demand graduates with excellent communication (written, oral and listening) skills. Thus, a student’s presentation in the classroom becomes an important element in delivering positive learning experiences. Keeping this objective in mind, a seminar on the topic “The Art of Writing a Research Paper” was conducted for the Final Year BBA students on 6th July, 2023 in Lecture Hall No. 03. Ms. Akshaya Pai, student of I MCom was the Resource Person for the seminar. Total 43 students took part actively in this seminar.
Ms. Akshaya Pai, after giving a brief introduction about the topic, went on to explain the concepts mandatory for writing a research paper. Highlighting the significance of research she stated, “Research not only generates useful insight and confidence but also acts as a stimulant for academic growth. Sound conceptual understanding of various research methods, research instruments, tools and techniques is an essential prerequisite for conducting empirical research.”
She also introduced various techniques of conducting a research. She discussed about formulating a publication strategy, understanding the publication process, structuring a research article, the significance of abstract and introduction sections, doing an adequate literature review, choosing an appropriate methodology, presenting results, getting the right references, understanding various referencing styles, understanding various types of journals, classification, reputation, targeting the right journal, etc. At the end of the session, she motivated the students to go for paper presentations which will add weightage to their resume.
