All the members of nature club took the initiative to prepare the vermicompost under the leadership of Ms. Vismitha, Ms Sana and Ms Kavyashree of II BZC. Preparation of vermicompost was started on January 22, 2020 by collection of waste materials from the College Botanical garden. On the first day, in the pot prepared the bed using coconut sheath and then added biodegradable materials such as dry leaves, paper etc for processing. Waste materials then mixed with cow dung slurry and left it for primary decomposition for 3 weeks. Mixed the contents 2-3 days by sprinkling water. After 3 weeks of primary decomposition, earthworms are introduced for secondary decomposition for about 40-45 days. Mixed the contents 2-3 days by sprinkling water. Vermicompost is produced within 60-75 days. Sieved for the separation of earthworm.
