Canfest 2020

CANFEST 2020, a two day National Level Undergraduate Inter-collegiate Fest encompassing the domains of Commerce & Management, Science & IT was organized on January 13 and 14, 2020 at Canara College.

Canfest 2020 was inaugurated by CA Divya Bhat, Senior Consultant, E&Y, Bengaluru, Ms. Latchiya Priya, Student Convenor introduced the chief-guest and welcomed the gathering. The chief guest CA Divya Bhat in her inaugural address motivated the students to enhance their communication & inter-personal skills and delivered a remarkable address to the participants. Being alumni of Canara College, she was happy to be a part of the event and expressed her gratitude to her teachers. Dr. K.V. Malini, Principal delivered her message and ignited the organizers and participating teams on the occasion. CA Vaman Kamath, Alternate Treasurer CHS Association, took pride in saying he could see “The Future Corporate in Canara” in his presidential remarks. Sri Maroor Sudhir Pai, Correspondent of the College and Dr Ganesh Shetty, Staff Co-ordinator graced the occasion.

“CANFEST” with its theme “Oblivion” and “Scientica” was an excellent platform for the participants to showcase their organizational and leadership skills. The theme for Scientica 2020 was “The Epoch of Science” which focused on the challenges faced by Science Community over the centuries. The Commerce and Management Fest themed Oblivion with multitude of twists and turns had comprised of 9 major events viz., Best Manager, Talent Management, Public Relation, Finance, Entrepreneur, Marketing, OECD, Photography, Quiz and witnessed participation from 16 colleges including 1 outstation college. Scientica 2020 had 12 spectacular Science & IT events – Dark Matter , Chemivenatus, Limit Breakers,Aleurons, Z-Crypto, Philomath, Web Crawler, Tech Nerds, Amedha,Elicit, Ablaze and Trade Phoenix. Scientica witnessed participation from 19 colleges.

600 students actively participated in the fest and made it a grand success.All these events had the fine blend of learning with lot of fun enabling to explore professional and personal excellence of the students.  These were judged by eminent professors, professionals, practioners and by our own alumnus.

Mr. Gururaj Shet, Alumini, graced the occasion as a Chief Guest for the Valedictory ceremony and gave away the prizes. Dr K.V. Malini, Principal of the College addressed the students and directed them to make use of the platforms like Canfest to enhance their leadership qualities and congratulated the organizers for their dedicated efforts and commitment in making it a successful one.

St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru emerged as the overall winners, MAPS College and Mahesh College, Mangaluru were the runners-up of Oblivion 2020. In Scientica, PoornaPrajna College Udupi emerged as the overall winners and St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru, were the runners-up. Vote of thanks was proposed by Ms. Swarna Bhandarkar, Bcom Evening College Student.
