International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, and a public awareness Jatha programme

July 18, 2019

The theme for the 2019 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking “Health for Justice. Justice for Health” emphasizes the integrated nature of the rights and health-based approaches. It’s a holistic approach involving health, human rights, criminal justice and social service institutions.

To create awareness about this social evil to the public, to raise awareness to fight against the substance abuse as well as the unlawful trade of drugs  and to know about the legislation and enforcement the 70 NSS Volunteers of our college actively took part in the jatha organised by the Akhila Karnataka Janajagruti Vedike from Jyothi to Town Hall, Mangaluru on July 18, 2019.

Students were fortunate enough to listen to Mr. Sathyanarayanacharya, judge for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P.S. Yadapadithaya, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation Mr. Mohan Alva in the programme held at Town Hall, Mangaluru.
