Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan (VISAKA): Digital India Campaign at the adopted Village – Kodman

January 22, 2017

On launching of Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan (VISAKA), a digital financial literacy campaign, India has explored on its mission of historic transformation from cash to cashless society.
Withstanding the earnest mission to promote digital literacy initiative of the Government of India, our NSS volunteers at the adopted village created an awareness amongst the residents of Kodman village on January 22, 2017. The students through their presentation explained the concept, its rationale, benefits and much more. Further, they said that – “We must understand that money is not cash; it is just a medium of exchange. We started from Barter system to coins, notes, plastic cards to digital. Now, you have an option to exchange money with a tap of your finger. Hence, we appeal to all to learn and change the mind-set from cash-based transactions to cashless transactions.”

The campaign was well received by the residents and it did give food for thought in the minds of the residents to move towards making India a Digital India.
The session strived to achieve the core values of contributing to national development, inculcating value system and promoting the use of technology.
