Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan (VISAKA) : Digital India Campaign on the College Campus

January 3, 2017

Recent experience in the country has established that moving towards a cashless economy where people minimize or almost completely avoid the use of cash for meeting their periodic financial commitments would usher tremendous benefits to the country by way of eliminating black money, enhance government tax compliance and revenues for development, seriously eradicate counterfeit currency and enhance value of money held by the common man. It is in the paramount interest of both Government and citizens to collectively work towards a digitally enabled, cashless economic system as it would bring in transparency, genuine economic growth and eliminate forces threatening national security. Hence it is important to digitally educate and empower all so that the undiluted benefits of growth accrue to the people at large.

Withstanding the earnest mission to promote digital literacy and what appears to be more parallel to the Honorable Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modiji’s drive for digital economy amidst demonetization in accord with cashless transaction, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College organized three-day Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan (VISAKA) : Digital India Campaign on the College Campus, launched as an initiative of the HRD Ministry, on January 03, 04 and 05, 2017 in the college campus. Student representatives Shipla III BCA, Manvith III B. Com. A1 and Dhanush III B. Com. A under the able guidance of the IQAC Coordinators facilitated the same.

In order to make all the students’ a part of this campaign, a presentation on cashless transactions was organized to apprise them about the recent developments and advancements in the economy on going digital. Further, they also said that in view of recent strategic decisions of the Government of India, it is on the crossover of a major financial revolution. As we shift from a cash-dependent to a cashless economy, we hope to look forward to a better society. They also appealed their fellow mates to adopt digital mode of transactions and be a part of this campaign.

The team of students also educated the Administrative and support staff and drew their attention on its benefits and ease.

Principal Dr. K. V. Malini in her message said – “An idea to make all our payments and transactions go digital, making currency notes and coins a thing of past…”

The campaign was successful in appealing the student community to take the lead and act as engines of this transformational shift. The session strived to achieve the core values of contributing to national development, inculcating value system and promoting the use of technology.
