Seminar on ‘Hope for Peace @ Canara’

The World Peace Flame has been lit in Bangor, North Wales since July, combining the seven flames fueled by the famous peacekeepers of the five continents of the world. Now the flames of peace are being lit up in other countries around the world. Moreover, this flame is promising peace and unity in the thousands of people around the world.

Canara College received this flame from the Peace Keepers of England Peace School. The “Hope for Peace at Canara” was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on Tuesday, August 09, 2016 at 3:15 PM in the College Seminar Hall. This was with the intention of lighting the peace flame in our Institution, leading it with peaceful restraint, and encouraging every person to strive for the unity of the nation. Mr. Harish Rai, Senior Reporter of Vijayavani Daily delivered the peace lecture.

Mr. Harish Rai in his peace address said that – “The students’ of this great Institute needn’t be thought the lessons of peace and discipline. Canara has the standing legacy of reflecting the message of peace, discipline and harmony at large. The moral values, culture and discipline instilled by the Institute in its students is in itself a testimony for instilling peace. Further, the students graduated from this college are occupying key positions in different fields. Student community is not just meant for the sake rather needs to take greater part in social service and peace spreading activities, benefiting the country and world at large.”

Principal Dr. K. V. Malini in her presidential address remarked that – “There is absolutely no doubt that the students’ peace, restraint and discipline would help the Institution grow at taller heights. I wish and hope the youth to be more ambitious for peace and drive themselves in becoming a part of achieving peace.”

Vice Principal and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Manohar S. Joishi Kumble administered the Oath for Peace. IQAC Coordinator Mrs. Premalatha V., welcomed the gathering. Student Raksha proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Vani U. S., Head, Dept. of Kannada, compered the formal programme. Student Welfare Officer Mr. Ignatius Nevil Noronha was also present during the programme. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

The programme was successful in spreading the message for peace. It strived to achieve the core values of contributing to national development and inculcating value system amongst all.
