A Special Talk on “Human Rights Today”

To understand the nature, importance of the concept of Human Rights and create awareness on relevance of the concept of Human Rights in modern scientific and technological era Human Rights Cell organized a talk on July 27, 2016.

Professor Chandra Mohan Marate,Head of the Department of Political Science,St. Agnes college Mangaluru, he spoke on the nature, importance of Human Rights, the changing Dimension of Human Rights etc.He said, HumanRights have become individual Rights rather than community Rights. The erosion of Basic Human rights is one of the threats to Human Rights. The main Discourse is now on Rights of Women, Migrants, TradeUnions, Children, homeless etc .Hence the state tends to protect these rights from violation through legal remedies and creation of laws .So, has been changed into regulatory acts. Thirty students actively took part in the programme.
