January 28, 2016

With a view to commemorate the unsung heroes and the real legends due to whom the nation could get the freedom, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the College in association with Rashtra Gauvrava Samrakshana Parishath (RGSP) organized a “Special Commemoration Patriotic Lecture and Release of Patriotic Calendars” on January 28, 2016 at 3:15 PM in the College Seminar Hall.

Chief Guest Mr. Venkatesh Jeppu, Secretary, Small Scale Industries Co-operative Society along with the other dignitaries released the two unique Patriotic Calendars. In his address he said – “It is indeed remarkable to note the multi-faceted initiatives undertaken by the Parishath in keeping the patriotic spirit alive among the people in the present day generation where distractions and attractions to else is extreme.”

The President and Convener of Rashtra Gauvrava Samrakshana Parishath (RGSP) Sri T. N. Ramakrishna in his lecture remarked that – “Many of us remember the birthdays of film stars, cricketers and their contributions to their respective field. We remember how many runs they have scored, what records they have created and how many crores their movies have earned at the box-office. But when asked about the freedom fighters who sacrificed their life in the struggle for freedom, most of us go blank. Independence Day and Republic Day re-ignite our memories, but only temporarily. This is the level of patriotism we have reached to. Also while hundreds of leaders fought for freedom. We know only a few of them.”

Therefore, with a view to keep the spirit of patriotism alive among us, the Parishath through its wide range of initiatives publishes patriotic calendars exclusively based on revolutionary Leaders. Further, as responsible citizens of this great Nation, we must know the history of the country. We must know the leaders who fought for it and lost their lives for the freedom of the nation.

Principal Dr. K. V. Malini presided over the programme. In her address she said – “The calendars published by the Parishath consists of photographs and paintings of revolutionary leaders with their brief history, notable contribution to the freedom struggle. This initiative of Sri T. N. Ramakrishna through RSGP will certainly go a long way in creating awareness about the real heroes.”

Vice Principal and IQAC Coordinator Dr. Manohar S. Joishi Kumble welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. Mrs. Premalatha V.,Head, Dept. of Mathematics, proposed the vote of thanks.
