Educational field visit to Someshwara

To provide opportunities for students to learn, develop new interests, and improve environmental \attitudes and behaviors, Educational field visit to Someshwara was conducted for 39 students of I BZC under the guidance of Dr.M.S.Joishi Kumble, Head of the Department of Botany and Ms. Madhushree, Assistant professor and Mr. Prashanth, Lab Assistant, on Monday August 10, 2015 at Kotekar, Someshwar beach and nearby places. During these study field visit different types of fresh water algae, marine algae, fungi and bryophyte species as mentioned in the syllabus were collected.

The wider benefits of fieldwork can have lifelong impacts. Outdoor biology teaching can introduce students to unfamiliar environments, which they may not otherwise see. This exposure could be the only opportunity they have to see a world which is remote from their everyday lives.
