An extension activity on ‘Rakshabandhan’

August 23, 2019

As part of the extension activity members of literary association celebrated Rakshabandhan festival in Mannagudda Government School on August 23, 2019.The significance of Rakshabandan festival is very much practiced in our country. It is celebrated like any other festival. As it is dedicated to the love of sister and her brother, it holds immense importance in Hinduism. The name of the festival, Rakshabandan is made up of two words Raksha (protection) and Bandan (relation). On this day a sister ties Rakhi around her brother’s wrist while the brother undertakes an oath to protect her until death. He vows to stand by his sister through thick and thin. Sister tying the sacred thread around the wrist of brother is a symbol of attachment, meant to strengthen their bond of love and affection. Convenor Dr. ShantalaVishwas and Co-convenors Prof. Thara kumari, Prof. Rithika Das, Prof. Sujatha Nayak were present for the programme.

A group of 30 students participated and understood the significance of ‘Rakshabandhan’
