The Department of Commerce of Canara College, Mangaluru, organised a Guest Talk on the topic “Financial Statements Demystified: From Classroom Learning to Real-World Application” on August 30, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. in the Smt. Ratna S. Shenoy Memorial Seminar Hall.
The session was graced by the presence of the Resource Person, CMA Ramsankar Mishra, Senior Manager, MRPL, who shared his expertise and practical insights on financial statements and their application in the corporate world. Mr. Mishra explained the importance of financial statements in business decision-making. He illustrated concepts through practical examples drawn from corporate experiences. The session connected theoretical knowledge with real-life applications, making it easier for students to comprehend financial management practices. An interactive discussion was held, where students clarified their queries regarding balance sheets, profit & loss accounts, and cash flow statements.
The programme was presided over by Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of Canara College, Mangaluru. The convenors of the event, Mrs. Dejamma A., Head of the Department of Commerce, and Mrs. Smitha M., Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, were also present. Ms. Devika, Lecturer in Commerce, welcomed the gathering, and Mrs. Sushma R. Shetty, Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, proposed the vote of thanks.
The session was highly informative and enriching, contributing significantly to the academic and professional growth of the students. A total of 70 students participated in this program.
