In today’s competitive job market, technical skills alone are not enough to guarantee success. Employers look for candidates with excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. This Soft Skills Development Course is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry, equipping students with the essential skills required to excel in their professional careers. Through a blend of theoretical sessions, practical training, and mock interviews, students will develop the confidence, communication skills, and industry readiness needed to succeed. Add on Course on Soft Skills of 36 hours duration was organized by Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) & Department of Commerce of Canara College in the month of December 2025 for III-year B Com students of the college.
The Add-on Course on Soft Skills was designed as an interactive and practical program. It comprised a series of modules, case studies, group activities, and discussions. The course content included the following topics: Effective Communication and Active Listening, Building Empathy and Emotional Intelligence, Teamwork and Collaboration, Leadership Development, Time Management and Goal Setting, Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills, Fostering Creativity and Innovation, Resume Writing, Interview preparation and Mock Interview, Scavenger Hunt
The soft skills add-on course was a valuable addition, equipping participants with essential skills to complement their technical abilities. Through interactive sessions and engaging exercises, participants developed effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
The course received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with participants praising the practical approach and applicability to real-world scenarios. Throughout the course, participants engaged in hands-on exercises, role-plays, and real-life simulations to practice and reinforce the concepts learned. Expert facilitators with extensive experience in the respective soft skills domains facilitated the sessions. At the end an examination was conducted on the course on December 15, 2025. The students have successfully completed the course and awarded with certificates.
46 students have joined and benefitted from this course. The course was coordinated by Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath, Faculty, Department of Commerce.
