On October 4, 2025, the Intellectual Property Rights Cell of Canara College, Mangaluru, under the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and as an initiative of IQAC, organized a workshop titled “IPR for Innovations & Entrepreneurship” at the Seminar Hall, Canara College.
The event featured two sessions by distinguished resource persons. The first session, led by Ms. Kavya, Assistant Professor in Law, SDM Law College, Mangalore, focused on “Fundamentals of Copyright: Rights, Responsibilities, and Fair Use.” She explained the legal provisions and ethical considerations in the use and protection of creative works.
The second session, conducted by Mr. Abhishek Ullal, Advocate, was on “Exploring Patents: A Pillar of IPR.” He elaborated on the process of patent registration, its significance in safeguarding innovation, and the economic advantages of patenting inventions.
By understanding patents and copyrights, students were motivated to engage in research, develop entrepreneurial ideas, and adapt to global standards of innovation and legal compliance. This aligns with NAAC’s emphasis on nurturing globally competent, research-oriented, and ethically responsible individuals. A total of 67 students attended this programme.
