The Cell for Women and Gender Studies & Women Empowerment Cell, under the IQAC initiative, organized a workshop on the topic “Emotional and Mental Readiness at Workplace” on May 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall. The resource person for the session was Ms. Preetham Kamath, an experienced Facilitator, Behavioral Trainer, and Counsellor.
The session aimed to enhance students’ emotional intelligence and prepare them mentally and emotionally for workplace challenges. Ms. Preetham Kamath addressed several crucial aspects during the workshop. She emphasized the importance of gratitude in developing mental awareness and the need to stay grounded in reality, avoiding illusions that may impact professional judgment.
Key themes explored during the workshop included
• Balancing task-oriented and people-oriented approaches at work.
• Building genuine connections and improving communication skills.
• Understanding and practicing accountability in the workplace.
• Identifying emotional triggers and establishing healthy boundaries.
• Learning to prioritize and make mindful choices regarding time and responsibilities.
• The significance of Emotional Quotient (EQ) and how it can sometimes be more crucial than Intelligence Quotient (IQ) in professional settings.
The session began with an interactive icebreaker activity, which helped set the tone for the discussions that followed. It concluded with valuable takeaways on the importance of emotional readiness and practical strategies to enhance mental resilience.
A total of 50 students actively participated in and benefited from the insightful and engaging workshop. The initiative was well-received and appreciated by all attendees for its relevance and impact. Mrs. Pushpanjali, Coordinator of the Cell for Women and Gender Studies; Mrs. Adithi A. Nayak, Coordinator of the Women Empowerment Cell; and Ms. Anasuya Bhagvath, IQAC Coordinator, jointly organized and oversaw the successful execution of the workshop.
The workshop commenced with a formal function. Ms. Shreeraksha S, III B.Sc., rendered the prayer. Mr. Sajan, II BCA B, welcomed the gathering, and Ms. Sambhrama R, III B.Sc. introduced the resource person to the gathering. Mrs. Dejamma A. Assistant Professor & HOD of Commerce, gave the presidential address, encouraging participants to actively involve themselves in the workshop. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Vamshi Salian S, III BCom B, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, participants, and organizers for making the workshop a success. The workshop proceeded with Ms. Sonali, III B.Sc., compering the program.
