CANFEST 2025- A National Level Inter-Collegiate Undergraduate Fest

CANFEST 2025 – A National Level Inter-Collegiate UG fest was organised by Canara College on 24h and 25th March 2025. The entire CANFEST 2025 was organized encompassing three different domains – Commerce & Management with Commercia, IT with Cantech and Science with Scientica with the main theme Artificial Intelligence.

Inaugural Ceremony:

The Inauguration Ceremony of CANFEST 2025 took place on March 24, 2025, at 9:30 A.M. in the College Quadrangle. The ceremony was highlighted by the traditional lighting of the lamp and was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, CA Shreelakshmi S. Hegde, Partner at Prabhu Hegde & Associates, Bengaluru.

In her keynote address, CA Shreelakshmi Hegde commended the organizing team for their dedicated efforts and congratulated the staff and student community for successfully hosting such a remarkable fest. She eloquently emphasized the synergy between science and commerce, describing them as “twin engines that empower life.” According to her, science drives curiosity, exploration, and innovation, while commerce ensures these advancements make a tangible impact on society. She beautifully captured their interdependence, noting, “Without science, there would be no groundbreaking discoveries and without commerce, those discoveries wouldn’t reach society.” Encouraging students to look beyond conventional academics, CA Hegde highlighted the importance of real-world experiences as the most impactful form of learning. She urged them to sharpen their business acumen, strengthen their communication skills, and aspire to become visionary leaders. Concluding her address, she inspired the audience to “see opportunities where others see problems,” “push beyond borders” in the quest for excellence, adopt a growth mindset, and gear up to lead the future.

In his presidential address, Sri M. Ranganath Bhat, Honorary Secretary of the Canara High School Association, remarked that the event stood as a testament to the integration of diverse skills, offering a platform where true capabilities were put to the test. He acknowledged that the brainstorming efforts of the organising team reflected throughout the program. Referring to the Chief Guest as an example, he emphasized that attaining such a distinguished position is the outcome of consistent hard work and dedication. He concluded his address by wishing all the participants the very best and urging them to continue striving for excellence.

Valedictory Ceremony:

CANFEST 2025 unfolded over two vibrant days, offering a diverse range of competitions aimed at nurturing creativity, strategic thinking, and teamwork among young minds. The Valedictory Ceremony took place on March 25, 2025, at 3:30 PM in the college quadrangle.

The ceremony’s highlight was the keynote address delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. D. Prashanth Shetty, Professor at Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, Mangaluru, and a proud alumnus of Canara College. Reminiscing about his student days, Dr. Shetty fondly recalled the nurturing environment of his alma mater. “The college and its values have played a pivotal role in shaping my journey. It was truly an unforgettable phase that laid the foundation for my success,” he expressed with heartfelt nostalgia. In an inspiring message to the students, Dr. Shetty urged them to pursue their goals with dedication and integrity. “Stay true to your dreams and passions. And only when passion meets hard work, does one taste success,” he said, leaving the audience inspired. The president of the function, Sri K. Suresh Kamath, Vice President, CHS Association, Mangaluru, lauded the event as a “vibrant valedictory function,” commending the enthusiasm and efforts of everyone involved. He highlighted the multifaceted benefits of the fest, emphasizing that both participating and organizing students gain immensely from such experiences. He noted that the fest serves as a platform for students to mingle with strangers, sharpen their skills, and develop crucial qualities such as time management. He concluded by stating that, above all, students leave the fest carrying a bag full of cherished memories.

Commercia 2K25

This year’s Commercia 2K25, with the theme “VYAGYANA – Intelligence at work”, the fest comprised 09 major events: 7 from B.Com and 2 from M.Com.

The events were Jyeshthos (Best Manager), Dalthron (Best Management Team), Arthron (Finance), Sambhion (HR & PR), Vistros (Marketing), Bodhigma (Business Quiz), Chitroid Photography, Masticon (FunFrennzy), and Cineastra (FilmFusion)

A total of 215 students in 25 teams participated in the event, with 128 students contributing to its organization. Major rounds of the events were judged by eminent professors, professionals, practitioners, and our own alumni members. All the events were planned and executed under the able leadership of Staff Conveners Mrs. Ashalatha and Mrs. Jayashree Shetty, and Student Conveners Mr. Gopalakrishna Pai and Ms. Niveditha Pai.  SDM Law College, Mangaluru, won the Overall Championship, while Poorna Prajna College, Udupi got the Runners-up.

CANTECH 2K25

This year’s CANTECH 2K25 had the theme “Rise, inspire, conquer. ” The fest comprised 08 major events: 5 from BCA   and 3 from MCA. The events were SmartOps(IT Manager),  Quiz-Bot(IT Quiz),  Algosphere(Coding),  Mystery Mashup(Surprise Event),  Zoom in Zone(Photography Event), Ctrl+Alt+Escape (The Escape Room), Call for Abstracts(Paper Presentation), and  Web Dynamo(Web Designing).

A total of 166 participants from 20 colleges and 135 of our students were involved in organizing this fest. Major rounds of the events were judged by eminent professors, professionals, practitioners, and our own alumni members. Each event was thoughtfully organized and efficiently executed, thanks to the expert guidance of the staff convenors, Mrs. Shailaja Kumari T.G., Mrs. Vinutha, Mrs. Rakshitha, and Student Conveners, Mr.Chethan J Rao and Ms.Swathi Naik. Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce and Management, Mangaluru, won the Overall Championship, while Dr. NSAM First Grade College, NITTE  Mangaluru, got the Runners-up.

SCIENTICA 25

“SCIENTICA 25” was themed “Prayojan – Uncover the Vibrance Within.” The fest featured five major events in Basic Science, each designed to inspire curiosity and innovation. The events are LuminAIra (Physics Event) which Illuminated the Frontiers of Physics with AI, Chemitronix (Chemistry Event)  showcased breakthrough discoveries, hands-on workshops, and discussions aimed at advancing chemical science and innovation, Numintix (Mathematics Event) a thrilling challenge that unlocked the power of numbers and pushes participants to test their logical thinking skills, Jungle Safari (Biology Event) an immersive experience that allowed participants to explore the wonders of life sciences and discover the beauty of biology, Brainiacs (Special Event) a fusion of science, artificial intelligence, and fun, which made an interactive experience.

A total of 80 participants from 12 colleges took part in the competition, while our students played a crucial role in organizing the fest. Bhuvanendra College, Karkala, won the overall runners-up and Poorna Prajna College (Autonomous), Udupi, won the overall winners. All events were meticulously planned and executed under the able leadership of the student convener, Ms. Manasvi, III B.Sc, under the guidance of staff conveners Dr. Asha Kiran Pakkala and Mrs. Soujanya D.

All the rounds of Canfest were judged by eminent professors, professionals, practitioners, and our own alumni members. Altogether, Canfest 2025 witnessed the participation of 57 teams across Karnataka. The CANFEST 2025 was coordinated by Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., Staff Welfare Association Secretary.
