The Training, Internships & Placement Cell of Canara College Mangalore, and The Centre for PG Studies in Commerce, in association with Lions Club Mangalore Nethravathi and Lions Club Mangalore Kadali, organized a workshop titled “Journey from Campus to Corporate” on March 7, 2026, at the College Seminar Hall. The workshop aimed to equip students with practical knowledge and skills required to successfully transition from academic life to the corporate world, particularly in areas such as CV preparation, interview skills, and understanding corporate expectations.
The programme was graced by Ms. Vinaya Shetty, President of Lions Club Mangalore Nethravathi; Mr. Alphonce Coutinho, President of Lions Club Mangalore Kadali; along with other members of the Lions Club. The programme began with a prayer, followed by a warm welcome by Ms. Swathi, a final M.Com student. Mrs. Dejamma A, in-charge Principal and Head of the Department of Commerce, extended a floral welcome to the distinguished guests.
A brief message was delivered by Mr. Alphonce Coutinho, President of Lions Club Mangalore Kadali, who encouraged students to actively participate in such programmes that help bridge the gap between academics and the corporate world.
The resource person, Prof. Ronald Pinto, Director of the Institute of Individual Development, Mangaluru, was introduced by Mrs. Shwetha Pai M, Convenor of the Training, Internships & Placement Cell of Canara College, Mangalore. Prof. Ronald Pinto then addressed the gathering followed by the Presidential Address by Mrs. Dejamma A, in-charge Principal and Head of the Department of Commerce. She appreciated the efforts of the organizers and highlighted the importance of such career-oriented workshops in enhancing students’ employability skills. She also presented tokens of appreciation to the guests, including the resource person, as a gesture of gratitude. Resource person conducted an insightful and engaging session on preparing students for the corporate environment. The session focused on important topics such as effective CV writing, interview preparation, communication skills, and understanding corporate expectations. The resource person shared valuable insights and practical tips that will help students confidently face recruitment processes and build successful careers.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Preeti R. Salian, a final M.Com student. The session ended with an interactive question-and-answer session and feedback from the students. Students expressed that the session was highly informative, lively, and engaging and found it very useful in preparing themselves for entering the corporate world.
The programme was guided and supported by Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator of the M.Com Department, and was smoothly coordinated by Mrs. Shwetha Pai M, Convener of the Training, Internships & Placement Cell of Canara College Mangalore. Overall, the workshop proved to be highly beneficial and insightful, helping students gain clarity, confidence, and practical guidance for their journey from campus to corporate. Altogether, students actively participated. The programme was effectively compered by Ms. Chaya Rashmi, a final M.Com student. Altogether, 18 students effectively participated in the event.
