The Centre for Post Graduate Studies in Computer Applications (MCA) organized a technical session on “Internet of Things – Practical Insights” on September 13, 2025, from 9:30 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. in Lecture Hall 11 for the first-year MCA students.
The resource persons for the session were Mr. Suraj Bhat and Ms. Swarnashree, final-semester MCA students of our college. Mr. Suraj Bhat demonstrated his project on Smart Agricultural Pump Controller, while Ms. Swarnashree presented her project on Soil Water Level Sensing.
The session emphasized key aspects of IoT such as architecture, devices, sensors, and communication technologies. The speakers also explained various IoT devices, platforms, and tools through practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises.
It was an interactive session where students discussed real-world case studies and explored the possibilities of developing new applications. A variety of IoT devices and sensors were showcased, highlighting their applications in smart homes, healthcare, agriculture, and industrial automation.
The session encouraged students to think about potential mini-projects in the field of IoT. A total of 43 first-year MCA students actively participated in the workshop. The feedback received was highly positive, with participants appreciating the practical relevance, interactive approach, and engaging delivery of the session.
At the end of the event, Mrs. Jayabharathi K. P., Head of the Department of MCA, presented a Letter of Gratitude and memento to the resource persons in the presence of faculty members Mrs. Shailaja Kumri T. G. and Mr. Sharan Karanth. The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Shreevindhya.
