The Orientation Programme for the M.Com 2025–27 batch was held on September 01, 2025. The event began with a traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony, symbolising the start of a new academic journey and invoking blessings for knowledge and growth. Mrs. Sneha Pai, Faculty of the M.Com Department, served as the Master of the Ceremony and guided the programme with grace and clarity. Mrs. Shwetha Pai, Faculty of the M.Com Department, delivered the welcome address, setting a warm and inclusive tone for the day.
Sri C.A. Giridhar Kamath, Special Invitee of the CHSA Governing Council, addressed the students as the Chief Guest. He spoke about India’s growing opportunities and urged students to enhance their practical and technical skills. He encouraged them to conduct a personal SWOT analysis to identify areas for improvement and better align themselves with the job market. Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of Canara College, briefed students about the college’s legacy and facilities, motivating them to make the most of their time in the M.Com programme with the warm presence of Administrator Dr. Deepti Nayak.
Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator of the M.Com Department, shared the department’s expectations and emphasised the importance of proactive learning and personal development. Sri C.A. M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent of the College, delivered the presidential remarks, encouraging students to focus on skill-building and to use the two years of the programme wisely. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mrs. Sneha Pai, Faculty of the M.Com Department. A total of 56 students participated in the programme, marking a promising beginning to their academic journey.
Following the formal orientation, a session titled Mentor Connect: Insights and Guidance from Faculty Team was conducted. During this interactive segment, students were introduced to the general rules and regulations of the college, encouraged to get to know one another, and invited to share the skills they possess. The session concluded with a reflective activity called the Commitment Box, where students wrote down personal commitments they aim to fulfil during their M.Com journey. These sealed notes will be revisited during their farewell, serving as a meaningful reminder of their growth and aspirations.
