CELEBRATION OF KONKANI MANYATHA DIWAS

August 22, 2025

The Konkani Bhasha Vidyarthi Mandal (KBVM) of our college celebrated Konkani Manyatha Diwas on August 22, 2025 at 2.30 P.M. Total 75 students participated in this event. Retired teacher and Host of the World Konkani YouTube channel, Smt. Chandrika Mallya, was the resource person. She lit the lamp and inaugurated the program. She said that Konkani is an independent language and has received national recognition under the 8th schedule of the Constitution. To develop the language, it’s essential to focus on creating literature. Every individual has a talent, and it’s crucial to utilize it properly. Reading books written by great authors and focusing on creating literature will help develop the language. She emphasized that reading books related to the language and preserving it will give true joy in celebrating national recognition. Every member of society has a role to play in developing the language. The In -charge Principal of the college, Smt. Dejamma, said that language is a symbol of culture. If a language dies, the entire culture dies with it. We’re indebted to those who preserve language and culture. The responsibility of taking Konkani language and culture to the next generation lies with today’s youth. The program included a welcome speech by Nidhi Shenoy, vote of thanks by Honey Shenoy, and a performance by students, including a bhajan by Akshaya Shenoy, Tabla performance by Varun Kamath, and recitation of original Konkani poems by Pratiksha P.Kamath and Samruddhi Kamath.
