A SESSION ON INCOME TAX FILING, PAN & TDS

The Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce organized a Workshop on Income Tax Filing, PAN, and TDS for the Final Year M.Com students on June 28, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. in Lecture Hall 22. The session was led by Mr. Raghavendra Shet, a Tax Consultant and proud alumnus of Canara College. He provided valuable insights into the components and structure of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) and explained its linkage with Aadhaar. Mr. Shet further elaborated on the Income Tax Return (ITR) filing process, highlighting its benefits and discussing key provisions such as Section 139(1), Section 44A, and the various ITR forms applicable to different taxpayers. He also introduced the concept of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) and conducted a hands-on demonstration of TDS filing, offering students a practical understanding of the process. The workshop witnessed active participation from 31 students, who found the session both engaging and informative. The workshop enabled students to gain practical insights into Income Tax Return filing and TDS procedures, enhancing their readiness for real-world financial compliance. The program was coordinated by Mrs. G. Sneha Pai, Lecturer, under the guidance of Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator.
