As part of the quality assurance initiative, the Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) for the academic year 2024–25 was conducted on Tuesday, June 27, 2025, in the college. The Audit Peer Team comprised esteemed members, including Dr. Devi Prabha Alva, Associate Professor of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, and Mr. Ramesh K. G, Assistant Professor – SG, Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru.
The entire day’s activity flow was carried out as per the schedule drawn for the purpose. It comprised the following:
- Meeting and interaction with the Head of Institution (HoI)
- Meeting and interaction with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)
- Meeting and interaction with Criterion Heads
- Visit to the Departments and Document verification
- Interaction with the Conveners of CC / ECA Associations and verification of records
- Interaction with the Conveners of Statutory Cells and verification of records
- Visit to Library and Information Centre and verification of records
- Visit to Administrative Office and verification of records
Upon interaction and review of records as above, the Audit Peer Team interacted with the Principal, Administrator, IQAC Coordinators, Criterion Heads and the Heads of Departments, and presented the brief observations and findings of the Audit. Accordingly the Peer team Report was finalized.
The Exit Meeting was convened at 5:00 P.M. in the College Seminar Hall. Dr. Devi Prabha Alva Associate Professor of Commerce, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru in her address, emphasized that the suggestions made by the Peer Team should be embraced in a constructive spirit. With the upcoming NAAC re-accreditation cycle on the horizon, she urged the faculty to view this feedback as an opportunity to grow and excel further.
Dr. Alva remarked, “Each one of us must be willing to walk that extra mile to realize the vision of autonomy for the institution and fulfill the long-cherished dream of the Management.” She affirmed that “Canara is already a well-recognized brand, and attaining autonomous status will only amplify its visibility and impact across academic circles and beyond.”
Ramesh K G, Asst. Professor –SG, Department of Business Administration, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru and alumni highlighted the importance of continuous evolution in the academic space by stating, “It is truly the survival of the fittest.” He emphasized that the Academic and Administrative Audit (AAA) is not merely an evaluative exercise, but a meaningful process of learning, unlearning, and relearning.
He acknowledged that Canara is a name to reckon with, known for its legacy and impact. However, he urged the faculty and stakeholders to align themselves with emerging academic benchmarks and evolving quality parameters to secure higher scores in the upcoming NAAC cycle. His message was clear—adaptability and innovation are keys to sustaining excellence and moving forward
In his Presidential address, CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent, Canara College sincerely appreciated the insightful observations made by the esteemed Peer Team. He observed that their feedback has been both comprehensive and constructive, and also commended the team for highlighting every pertinent aspect that contributes to the betterment of the institution.
Further, he said that in any dynamic academic ecosystem, differing opinions are natural. However, what truly matters is our collective spirit and shared vision. When we stand united—faculty, management, and all stakeholders—there is no limit to what we can achieve. Consistent, sustained growth is the cornerstone of true success. It is not a one-time effort but a continuous journey of introspection, improvement, and innovation. Let us take these valuable suggestions in the right spirit and work collaboratively to raise the bar of excellence at Canara College.
The IQAC Coordinator Mrs. Anasuya Bhagvath delivered the welcome address.The Members of the Audit Peer Team then handed over the AAA Report to the Principal. Considering the constructive suggestions of the Team, the Principal called upon that a detailed plan of action may be drawn to implement the recommendations in a phased and organized manner. Mrs. Prathima V Baliga, IQAC Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.The meet adjourned with respectfully singing the National Anthem.
