INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA – 2025

On June 21, 2025 the National Service Scheme Units of Canara College celebrated International Day of Yoga 2025 at 8:45 A.M. in the College quadrangle. Mrs. Usha Nayak, Certified Yoga Trainer, Assistant Professor, Canara College was the Resource Person for the day.

Mrs. Usha Nayak expressed with pride that Yoga is India’s healthiest gift to the world. It effectively balances the mind and body through physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama) and meditation. Yoga helps practitioners develop body awareness, improve flexibility and strength, while also promoting relaxation, reducing stress, and cultivating emotional stability. Further, highlighting the theme for 2025- “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, she emphasized the interconnectedness of personal and planetary well-being. During her yoga session, she taught simple and beneficial yogasanas like tadasana, virabhadrasana, trikonasana, vrikshasana and suryanamaskara to the volunteers and motivated them to practice it on a daily basis to derive its utmost benefit.

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga- 2025, the NSS Programme Officers Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, Mrs. Sushama C. and Dr. Ashakiran Pakkala, Head, Department of Science along with 16 NSS Volunteers enthusiastically performed the yoga postures. This programme successfully achieved its objectives, promoting healthy lifestyle and the holistic benefits of yoga.
