Add-on Course on “Business Communication & Etiquette”

The Department of Business Administration organized a comprehensive Add-on course on Business Communication and Etiquette for the first-year BBA students, aiming to equip them with essential soft skills and enhance their professional communication competence. The course was designed to provide a balanced blend of theory and practice to prepare students for academic, professional, and real-life communication scenarios.

Modules Covered:

Module 1: Nature and Scope of Business Communication – This module introduced the key concepts, types, and importance of communication in business. It also discussed the communication process and identified common barriers.

Module 2: Non-Verbal Communication – Focused on body language, facial expressions, gestures, posture, and personal appearance. Activities and demonstrations helped students understand how non-verbal cues influence communication.

Module 3: Oral and Written Communication – Covered public speaking, active listening, and formal writing skills. Students practiced writing emails, business letters, reports, and memos.

Module 4: Job Application and Resume Writing – Provided hands-on training in drafting resumes tailored to specific job profiles and writing impactful cover letters and job applications.

Module 5: Presentation Skills and Business Etiquette – Taught techniques for effective presentations, including content organization and use of visual aids. Also addressed professional behavior, workplace manners, and corporate dressing.

The course used interactive teaching methods such as lectures, case studies, group discussions, mock interviews, role-plays, and student presentations to ensure practical learning.

The Add-on course on Business Communication and Etiquette was attended by 33 First BBA students and comprised a total of 30 sessions. The sessions were effectively conducted by experts in the relevant field, ensuring high-quality delivery and practical insights. The course was designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of business communication, combining theoretical concepts with interactive activities. Through a structured approach and engaging pedagogy, the course facilitated active learning and skill development, making it a valuable addition to the academic curriculum.
