The Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Commerce organized a one-day state-level conference titled “The Digital Transformation of Commerce” on May 30, 2025, at 9:30 AM. The event was attended by undergraduate and postgraduate commerce students from Mangaluru and surrounding areas. The conference began with a briefing by Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of Canara College, who explained the purpose and significance of the event. The Chief Guest and inaugurator, CA Nandan Rao, Chartered Accountant and Partner at Aneesh & Nandan Chartered Accountants, emphasized the importance of technology in commerce, stating that traditional core subjects alone are no longer sufficient. He predicted Mangaluru’s future as a growing technological hub and encouraged students to equip themselves for emerging job opportunities.
Following the inaugural session, CA Nandan Rao conducted an insightful session on the theme, introducing various digital tools and applications that can simplify and enhance students’ work. He demonstrated how technology can be integrated into commerce to improve efficiency and productivity. The conference was presided over by Sri C. A. M. Jagannath Kamath, who, in his presidential address, advised students to focus on both academic excellence and personality development to achieve career success. The event was well-structured, with Ms. Srilakshmi as the master of ceremony, Ms. Bhargavi Shetty delivering the welcome speech, and Ms. Anjana Baliga presenting the vote of thanks.
The valedictory ceremony featured Mrs. Dejamma A., Head of the B.Com Department, and Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J., Vice Principal, as distinguished guests. They highlighted the growing need for digital literacy and encouraged students to embrace technological advancements in commerce. Following this, prizes were awarded to winners from two categories—UG and PG—across three panels. The conference report was summarized by Mrs. Swathi Nayak, PG Coordinator, marking the successful completion of the event.
With a participation of 110 students, the conference provided a valuable learning experience, promoting the integration of technology into commerce education. The prize distribution ceremony was efficiently hosted by Mrs. Sneha Pai and Mrs. Shwetha Pai, faculty members of the M.Com Department. The event proved to be a significant step in preparing students for the evolving digital landscape in the field of commerce.
