To enhance learning beyond the classroom and offer students practical exposure to the professional world, an industrial visit was organized by the Department of Commerce, Canara College, Mangaluru, for the II B.Com students on April 19, May 22 and May 30, 2025. The visit aimed to help students to gain practical insights through direct interaction, observation of work processes, and understanding of employment practices. The visit also provided insights into plant layout design, production flow, and human resource practices
Students of Second B.Com A visited Leksa Lighting Industry at Moodbidri on April 19, 2025. Mr. Shreyas, Admin of the company briefed the students about the company, its project and its achievements over the period of seven years from its inception. The students were shown the colorful display of LED Lights with music. Then the students were made to visit the factory and were explained about the manufacturing process, storing of raw materials, checking of raw materials, issues of GR NO., Endurance test, IP test, branding and packaging of LED Lights. After the factory visit students had an interactive session with the industry official where in they discussed about the functioning of different departments in the company, their marketing strategies and the career prospects for the students in the company. A total of 54 students along with their Academic Advisors participated in the industrial visit
Second B.Com C visited Srichakra Plastic Containers and Navadurga Food Products Unit on May 22, 2025.The Production Manager at Srichakra Plastic Containers provided an overview of the company’s operations and core manufacturing processes. Following this, students visited the Navadurga Food Products Unit, which produces items for brands like Nandini and Ribbons & Balloons. They were introduced to the complete production cycle, including the use of fine POP granules, bobbin rolls of plastic threads, POP bag manufacturing, as well as the printing and lamination stages. A total of 24 students along with their Academic Advisors participated in the industrial visit.
Students of Second B.Com B visited Bolas on May 30, 2025. At Bolas Mrs. Deepa, Supervisor illustrated the complete process of how cashews are procured, packaged and exported. Students also observed the complete process of how almond, raisins, walnuts and dates are received and packed. Here majority of processing is done manually. A total of 46 students along with their Academic Advisors participated in the industrial visit.
