“Youths on Weekend at Ashrama” (YouWA) was an initiative by Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru, to empower and develop youth through one-day, non-residential camp held in the Ashrama premises on 24th May 2025. The camp was conducted exclusively for NSS students from the Mangaluru Zone.
The camp included various sessions and activities for the students. The session was graced by inspiring resource persons, Swami Yugeshanandaji Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru, Bellala Gopinath Rao, Veteran Indian Army and Trainer, Swami Vivekananda School of Values and Dr. Rahul Tonse Ganesh, Trainer, Swami Vivekananda School of Values. Inspired by the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, the volunteers also engaged themselves in Shramadhana activities in and around the Ashram and learned important life skills, ethical values, and the spirit of selfless service.
Dr. Sheshappa Amin, the NSS Coordinator, Mangalore University and other faculty members rendered their support for this event. 80 NSS volunteers from different colleges of Mangaluru Zone attended the day-long session, wherein 9 NSS volunteers from Canara College actively participated in this extension activity.
