The Centre for Post Graduate Studies in Computer Applications organized a study tour to Thiruvananthapuram from May 19, 2025 to May 23, 2025 for both first and second-year M.C.A. students. Due to unforeseen weather conditions, including heavy rains, traffic congestion, and time limitations, the itinerary had to be revised. However, the students had the enriching opportunity to visit the following significant locations:
- Jatayu Earth Centre – May 20, 2025 : Visited the Jatayu Earth Centre, home to the world’s largest bird sculpture. This iconic monument stands as a symbol of bravery and protection, rooted in Indian mythology. The visit offered a blend of artistic marvel, engineering excellence, and cultural inspiration, providing students a unique exposure beyond academics.
- ISRO Campus –May 21, 2025
The tour included a visit to the ISRO Space Museum at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Tumba. Students explored the evolution of India’s space journey and gained insights into various space missions. A highlight of the visit was witnessing the launch of sounding rockets used for scientific research.
A special note of gratitude goes to Sri Muralikrishnan Ramachandra Sharma, proud alumni of our college and Group Director of the Chemical Systems Group, for facilitating the exclusive entry and guiding us during the visit.
- Shree Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple
The students explored the spiritual, historical, and architectural significance of this sacred temple known for its rich heritage and wealth of traditions. They observed traditional temple rituals and studied the unique Kerala-style temple architecture, a blend of Dravidian and indigenous styles, enhancing their cultural understanding.
A total of 41 students participated in the tour, accompanied by five faculty members:
Mrs. Jayabharathi K. P., Mrs. Shailaja Kumari T. G., Mrs. Vaishnavi, Mr. Karthik, and Mr. Sharan Karanth.
This study tour proved to be educational, cultural, and inspirational, providing students with exposure to mythological landmarks, cutting-edge scientific institutions, and spiritual heritage. The tour also nurtured students by inculcating a strong value system, promoting discipline, cultural awareness, and team spirit. The visit to ISRO emphasized the importance of scientific inquiry and technological advancement, thereby promoting the use of technology as a key component in academic and professional growth.
