SPECIAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON DRUG ABUSE AND AIDS

May 19, 2025

As part of its ongoing commitment to social responsibility and student well-being, the NSS Units of Canara College organized a Special Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse and AIDS on 19th May 2025 at Smt. Ratnabai Shenoy Memorial Hall. The event featured compelling performances by the renowned Ranga Chalana Team, led by celebrated Tulu actor Mr. Dinesh Attavar. 37 volunteers benefitted from this programme.

The Ranga Chalana Team staged two well-crafted skits: The first skit focused on the dangers of drug addiction, tracing the journey of a youth from curiosity to dependency and the resulting impact on his family and future. The second skit emphasized the need for AIDS awareness, highlighting misconceptions, preventive measures, and the importance of empathy and support for those affected.

Both performances were rich in message, engaging the audience with a blend of emotion, and realism. The powerful acting and relatable scripts left a lasting impression on the volunteers and staff.

In short, the awareness programme strived to leverage the power of peer influence to disseminate information effectively and promote healthy behaviors.
