The Anti-Sexual Harassment Cell of Canara College organized a one-day workshop titled “Promoting Respect and Empowering Safety”: Effective Strategies and Support System. The event aimed to raise awareness about sexual harassment, educate participants on the legal framework in place, and empower them with practical tools to prevent and respond to such issues effectively.
The workshop began with an opening address by Mrs. Sharika Rai, who emphasized the importance of creating respectful, inclusive, and secure spaces within educational institutions. This was followed by a series of interactive sessions that encouraged open dialogue among participants.
She highlighted the significance of awareness by discussing a few case laws and shared success stories of women who have effectively used the law to combat harassment and achieve justice. The workshop concluded with an introduction to various support services available for victims of harassment, including counseling and legal aid.
The workshop concluded with a call encouraging students to play a proactive role in upholding respect, dignity, and safety within their communities.
