Canara College celebrated its College Day on March 29, 2025. The College Day celebrations started at 3.30 pm in the evening with Dr. Ramakrishna Kini, Professor at MIT Manipal, as the chief guest. In his address, he encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones, explore new opportunities, and work diligently to achieve success. He also emphasized the importance of honing interpersonal and communication skills.
CA Sowmya Kamath, Partner at M. Jagannath Kamath & Co., expressed her gratitude to her alma mater, calling it a wonderful opportunity to give back. She urged students to overcome life’s challenges, view failures as stepping stones to success, and embrace determination and resilience as key to shaping their destinies. The chief guests presented awards to the prize winners.
Shri D. Vasudeva Kamath, President of the C.H.S. Association, presided over the function, advising students to uphold strong values and extending his best wishes for the event. Sri Ranganath Bhat, Honorary Secretary of the C.H.S. Association, shared his joy over the college’s progress.
Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of Canara College, delivered the Annual Report, highlighting the institution’s achievements over the academic year. Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., Staff Welfare Secretary, introduced the chief guests, while Ms. Sanjana Kamath, a B.Com rank holder from the class of 2024, proposed the toast. Rank holders were honored for their outstanding achievements during the event.
Mrs. Babitha S. Student Welfare Mentor, warmly welcomed the gathering, while Mrs. Smitha M., also a Student Welfare Mentor, skillfully moderated the felicitation of rank holders and best achievers. Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J., Vice Principal, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all contributors. The programme was seamlessly compered by Mrs. Sushama C., Head and Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology.
The event was graced by the presence of CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent of Canara College; Shri K. Shivananda Shenoy, Manager of Canara College; Dr. Deepti Nayak, Administrator; and Mrs. Anila, Principal of Canara Evening College. The celebrations were further enhanced by a vibrant cultural programme.
