Srujana 2025: An Intercollegiate Nss Cultural Fest

The ‘Srujana – 2025’ event was held on March 27, 2025, at Canara College, Mangaluru. It is a unique one-day intercollegiate cultural competition organized by NSS Units of our college exclusively for the NSS Volunteers, fully funded by our Management, Canara High School Association. The program was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Jitendra Shetty Talapady Gutthu, NSS Alumnus, M.D., Bheemalaxmi Chit Fund Private Ltd., Mangaluru, while the NSS flag was hoisted by Sri M. S. Gururaj Shet, President, Alumni Association, Canara College. A total of 340 volunteers from 17 colleges participated in the competition.

Mr. Jitendra Shetty, in his address, recounted his transformative journey at Canara College, emphasizing the values and service ethics imbibed during his NSS days. Mr. Gururaj Shet highlighted the institution’s proud legacy as the pioneer of the NSS Fest- Srujana.

Dr. Premalatha V., Principal, Canara College, expressed her support and best wishes to the participants. The President of the program Mr. Vikram D., Manager, Nandagokula, Canara International School and Canara Halls, shared his insights on how life’s challenges and failures pave the way for success. Mr. Likith, NSS Student Coordinator, presented the overview of Srujana 2025. The Coordinator of Srujana, Mrs. Seema Prabhu S., extended a warm welcome. The NSS Programme Officer, Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, introduced the esteemed guest to the august audience, while Mrs. Sushama C., NSS Programme Officer proposed the vote of thanks.

CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent, Canara College, Mr. K. Shivanand Shenoy, Manager, Canara College, Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J., Vice-Principal, Canara College, and Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, Assistant NSS Programme Officer, were present at the event.

The Valedictory Function of Srujana 2025 took place on the same day, in the evening. Dr. Sheshappa K., Co-ordinator of NSS, Mangalore University was the Chief Valedictory Guest, who lauded Srujana as a vibrant stage for emerging talents. CA M. Jagannath Kamath, Correspondent, Canara College, in his presidential note, commended the exceptional performances and its pivotal role in shaping the future of students. Dr. Deepti Nayak, Admistrative Officer, Dr. Kalpana Prabhu J., Vice Principal, Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat, and Mrs. Sushama C., NSS Pos, and Mrs . Laxmi Hegde, Asst. NSS PO, along with NSS Student Coordinators Mr. Likith and Ms. Shamika were present on the stage.

Various competitions like Street Play, Wealth out of Waste, Face Painting, Poster Writing, Variety Competition, Group Singing, Documentary and All Rounder were held.

The Overall Championship trophy was bagged by Govinda Dasa College, Surathkal, while SDM College, Ujire, Mangaluru, secured the Runners-up trophy.
