Extension Activity: “Paper bag making” at Chetana Child Development Centre, Mangaluru, as a social welfare initiative by the YRC volunteers

Chetana Child Development Centre has a wide range of products or services to cater to the varied requirements of its customers. The staff at this establishment is courteous and prompt in providing any assistance. As a part of their involvement in community engagement and social work, the Youth Red Cross unit of our college organized an extension activity called “Paper Bag Making” on March 6 and 7, 2025, to join hands with the physically challenged children in preparing paper bags using newspapers and magazines. The revenue generated by selling these paper bags was used for the various activities of the school.

Twenty eight YRC volunteers in two teams participated in two days, successfully creating over 600 paper bags. The activity not only provided the children with new skills but also enhanced the volunteers’ teamwork and leadership abilities. The paper bags were sold, and the revenue supported various school activities, highlighting the YRC unit’s commitment to community engagement and social work. The extension activity organized by the Youth Red Cross unit was a resounding success. For two days, total of a 28 students actively participated in this event. This activity helped in contributing service to society, through which students could be involved in community engagement and the development of the individual.
