The Department of Zoology organized an educational visit to Aloyseum, St. Aloysius College Museum, Mangaluru for II and III B.Sc. students on February 28, 2025 at 4:15 P.M. The primary objective of the visit was to enlighten the students about the intriguing animal specimens exhibited in the museum.
The museum boasts an impressive array of skeletons, including a whale obtained from Beliapatam near Calicut, along with specimens of a tiger, panther, antelope, and wild boar. Additionally, the museum features display of animal bones, animal skins, skulls, and a collection of ostrich eggs. A highlight of the visit was the exhibition of Dr. Hareesh Joshi’s frog collection, which includes the Euphlyctisaloysii, a species named in honor of the College. The museum also showcases antique laboratory equipment and well-preserved herbarium sheets.
The visit was both engaging and educational, with 15 students actively participating and expanding their knowledge of the animal kingdom through this unique experience.
