A SESSION ON “KUTUMB EK – MAN EK ’’

February 19, 2025

Relationships in Indian culture play a vital role in fostering bonding among family members. However, due to the increasing generation gap and the trend of having smaller families, many people are losing touch with their traditional family relationships.

In order to address this issue and revive the significance of these relationships, Konkani Bhasha Vidyarthi Mandal (KBVM) organized a session on relationship and bonding within Konkani family, titled- “Kutumb Ek – Man Ek” on February 19, 2025 in Lecture Hall 03 at 3.30 P.M. The aim was to counter the influence of Western culture, which has led to the generic use of terms like “Uncle’’ and “Aunt’’, and instead preserve the traditional Konkani terms and customs that strengthen family ties. Another objective was to explore various family bonds, such as “Bappa-Pacchi’’ and “Manthu-Maahv’’ etc.

The member of Konkani Bhasha Vidyarthi Mandal Ms. Akshaya Kamath delivered the welcome speech, while Mr. Radheshyam P. Kamath proposed the vote of thanks. A total of 7 students attended the session. It was a successful session as by the end of it KBVM students were able to list out the various family bonds and terms with much ease. Mrs. Sujatha G. Nayak, Convenor, KBVM, conducted the session.
