The Centre for Postgraduate Studies in Computer Applications (M.C.A) organized a session titled “Essential Life Skills for Tech Professionals” for first and second-year MCA students on January 15, 2025, at 2:30 P.M. in Smt. Ratna S. Shenoy Memorial Hall.
Dr. DeviPrabha Alva, Associate Professor of Commerce, St. Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangalore, was invited as the resource person. She is certified as a National Trainer with Grade A from MEPSC (Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council) conforming to the National Skill Qualification Framework; a Nation Building Trainer (NBT) from BOSCH India Ltd., on Attitudes & Behaviours for Nation Building; and a Trainer on the “POSH” Act (Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace) by the Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), New Delhi.
The session was highly interactive and focused on essential life skills, covering topics such as the importance of cultivating a positive attitude in life, ignoring negative thoughts to stay focused on one’s goals, the seven secrets to a fulfilling life, key elements of building and sustaining successful relationships etc.
She also shared a few videos illustrating ways to eliminate negativity and reflect on the values of life, especially in a high-pressure work environment. A formal welcome programme was organized by the students, with Mrs. Shailaja Kumari T.G. serving as the convener of the session. 80 students took part in this session and actively involved themselves in the activities. The primary objective of organizing this session was successfully achieved – to instill a strong value system among the students, helping them recognize that a well-mannered attitude is just as crucial as their skills in fostering global competencies.
