The Department of Commerce at Canara College organized a Certificate Programme in Banking, Finance and Insurance (CPBFI) in collaboration with Bajaj Finserv, a reputed name in the financial services sector. The objective of the programme was to enhance students’ employability by equipping them with essential industry-specific skills and domain knowledge required in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sectors.
This certification course was conducted completely online, providing students with flexibility and convenience while maintaining high standards of professional learning. The sessions included theoretical knowledge, industry practices, and interactive modules delivered by experienced professionals from Bajaj Finserv.
The CPBFI course was offered to the final-year undergraduate students of B.Com and BBA. The course was structured to deliver essential concepts through a series of virtual training sessions, assignments, and assessments. The curriculum covered:
- Introduction to BFSI Sector
- Fundamentals of Banking and Finance
- Principles of Insurance
- Communication and Soft Skills
- Customer Relationship Management
- Digital Banking & Emerging Trends
Participants were required to attend all sessions and successfully complete internal assessments to qualify for the certificate.
The Certificate Programme was conducted in two batches. Batch 1659 had a total of 51 students enrolled, out of which 31 students successfully completed the course and received the certificate of completion. Batch 1660 saw 57 students enrolling, out of which 8 students successfully completed the programme and were awarded the certificate. This variation in certification outcomes across batches will be reviewed to understand potential areas for improvement in engagement, support, or delivery.
