“Cleanliness is next to Godliness.”
It is the moral duty of each individual to keep themselves, their homes, their school, their workplace and their surroundings clean. Cleanliness gives rise to a good character by keeping body, mind, and soul clean and peaceful. The NSS Units of Canara College organized a Cleanup Drive Post Dandiya Night on September 03, 2024 to educate and promote civic sense among the students.
Following a vibrant and joyful Dandiya Night celebration that brought the entire college community together, the NSS Unit took proactive steps the very next morning to organize a Cleanup Drive. The event had left behind decorations, food wrappers, and other litter around the quadrangle.
Despite the previous evening’s festivities, the dedicated NSS volunteers arrived early in the morning and got to work with great enthusiasm and commitment. They collected all discarded waste, removed the decorations, and meticulously cleaned the area. Over the course of half a day, the team ensured that the quadrangle and the entire college campus were returned to its original, spotless condition. Through this cleanup drive they realized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. A group of 15 NSS volunteers undertook the cleaning activity under the guidance of the NSS Programme Officer Mrs. Sushama C.
The initiative stood as a reminder that celebrations should be followed by responsibility and that it is everyone’s duty to maintain the sanctity of shared public spaces. The NSS Unit’s timely and efficient cleanup work was appreciated by faculty, staff, and students alike.
