SEED BALL PLANTATION AT ADOPTED VILLAGE, KODMANNU -AN OUTREACH PROGRAM

September 28, 2024

Canara College has ever supported the environmental conversation efforts. So, in order to promote greenery and environmental sustainability in rural areas, on September 28, 2024, the NSS Association of our college organized an outreach program- Seed ball plantation at its adopted village Kodmannu, Bantwal Taluk.

Volunteers actively participated in preparing eco-friendly seed balls using native seeds and natural materials such as red soil and cow dung. These were then sowed in the identified areas of the Kodmannu High School backyard in collaboration with the local community, school authorities and school children. Elders of the village were present to support the mission and shared traditional knowledge about the region’s flora. Around 20 seed balls were planted by 4 NSS volunteers with the help of high school students.

The event concluded on a positive note with the villagers and students pledging to nurture and protect the planted areas. The program also sparked interest among villagers in replicating the activity in other parts of the village.
