NSS DAY CELEBRATION 2024

NSS was formally launched on September 24, 1969, the birth centenary year of Mahatma Gandhiji, the Father of our Nation. Thereafter, September 24, is celebrated every year as NSS Day with appropriate program and activities.

NSS Units of Canara College celebrated NSS Day on September 24, 2024 at 8:30 A.M. in the College Quadrangle. At 9:00 in the morning, the NSS flag was hoisted by the Chief Guest Sri Jagadeesh Shetty, Corporator, Boloor Ward, Mangaluru, esteemed Alumnus of Canara College and National Level Best NSS All-Rounder Awardee. He highlighted the significance of NSS in a student’s life and about its pivotal role in nation building. Further, he shared his experience on how NSS provided a platform for his personal development by providing leadership skills, organizational skills, and social skills. He emphatically said, “Once an NSS Volunteer, always a Service Volunteer.”

The program was presided over by Dr. Premalatha V., Principal of the College. In her remarks, she congratulated the first year NSS volunteers for choosing NSS as their extracurricular activity and advised the volunteers to participate in all the competitions and evolve as a better version of themselves.

Mrs. M. Keerthana Bhat and Mrs. Sushama C., the NSS Programme Officers, and Mr. Shubham Kulal and Mrs. Laxmi Hegde, the NSS Assistant NSS Programme Officers coordinated the program. 240 NSS Volunteers and 60 Staff members participated in this joyous celebration with zeal and enthusiasm.
