Intellectual Property Rights are legal rights protecting creative and innovative works, granting exclusive controls to creators or owners over their intellectual creations to encourage innovations and economic growth. The primary types of intellectual property rights include Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights, Trade Secrets, Industrial Design Rights, Plant Variety Rights. To foster awareness and interest among the students our college’s Intellectual Property Rights Cell has organized a seminar on “Patentable and Non-patentable Inventions in India” on December 04, 2023, targeting second year B.Com and B.Sc students.

In her speech, she mentioned two notable patents in Mangalore: one is by NITK Surathkal, a faculty member for a process creating an alcoholic beverage from cashew apple and raisins. Another by Mangalore University researchers extracting an anti-cancer compound called tetrandrine from a methanol extract.         During the program, Staff convenors Mrs. Soujanya D and Mrs. Poornima were present.
